An accomplished entrepreneur and investor, Alberto has invested with us since 2015. He brings our Partner Team a wealth of expertise in general and early-stage management, telecommunication & infrastructure technologies, alternative business models and emerging markets.
Alberto started his career in 1994 with Lehman Brothers in NYC. Soon thereafter he moved to San Francisco to join I/PRO, a Softbank-backed, early Internet company. In 1997, he started CLAdirect, a Telecommunication Infrastructure Integrator, that has become a leading LatAm data infrastructure provider across a variety of sectors (telco, cable & mobile operators, service providers, utilities, and large enterprises), currently operating in 10 country markets. In 1999 he founded Bittime.com, raising money from Softbank and growing the business to become a leading online incentives player with operations in the US and 5 major LatAm markets including Brazil.
Alberto holds a Mechanical Engineering degree, with Summa Cum Laude honors, from the Universidad Metropolitana (Caracas, Venezuela) as well as an MS in Management Science from Stanford University. An avid swimmer and traveler, Alberto has organized annual Kinnernet events throughout Latin America since 2016.
